Hiya, A little background. For the last couple of years i've lived in various house shares etc so left my cat at my mums to be looked after.

I've moved back to my home town, to my dad's house to be precise as he has enough room for me and the OH.

Anyway, I got a call from my mum today saying that my cat needs far more attention than she and my step father can provide and they also have another cat living there, so after asking my dad I went and collected her about an hour ago.

I've opened up a couple of rooms for her to explore, the reasons for this is that my dads place is about 3 times as big as my mums and I don't want to just release her into the full house and risk her hiding for a few hours till she decides she's hungry.

Have put food out for her, and water, she's had a bit of food and also sorted out a litter tray. I'm sat in one of the rooms so she knows that I am here.

All I want to know, is am I doing the right thing for her? I know not to let her out for about a week or so.

Tomorrow, I am going to go out and buy a bed and some toys but am under no illusion that she will probably sleep with me and the OH in a few days lol.

Thanks

She'll be absolutely fine. Best to just leave her alone and she'll come out in her own time. They usually like to find a safe place for themselves then slowly but surely when she feels more confident she'll make an appearance. As long as she's got access to food and water she'll be OK.

Sounds fine to me! I wouldn't let her outside for at least two weeks, then go outside with her into the garden for the first few times so she can get the feel for everything safely.
