Hi everyone.

A couple of hours ago while on my way to the vet with my own kitten, I saw a cat laid by the roadside - sadly beyond help.

With help from a kind man living nearby I got the cat into a bag and took him along with me to Peak Vets.

They scanned him for a micro chip but he didn't have one. They told me the cat was male, about 6 -7 years old and had been spayed. He was white, ginger and black and had no collar.

I don't know what else to write Feel sad cos the owners may now not find out what has happened to their cat. And if i'd left him where he was they may have found him whilst out looking.

On the way back from the vets tonight I saw one of these posters outside the primary school, we stopped to read it. We will keep an eye out for this little cat in our garden as we get quite a few crossing through.

RIP kitty.

It's a sad situation but I just wanted to reassure you that you did absolutely the right thing. You gave the cat dignity in death, stopped the body from being damaged further and saved kids from seeing the disturbing sight. Also by stopping to help you did more than the driver that hit it did! If the owners are looking hopefully they will ring round vets or see this post. You could also put up posters in the area.

Sorry to jump on a thread at such a sad time my thoughts are with the cat owners! BUT now pet owners can see why its so important to microchip there pets, instead of worrying day & night, the cat owner would have had a call now to say that some one had taken there cat into the vets to be scanned and it had been run over and had died.. the pet owner would at least know that something had happened and would not still be sitting up day & night thinking were there cat was. (again my thoughts are with the cat owners)
