Went to Shiraz restaurant on Abbeydale Rd just past its junction with Carterknowle Rd heading out of town ...

A brilliant place , greta atmosphere, friendly staff, good food and very cheap !!!

Its a pity this place not in London Rd - more people would know about it and go ... its well worth the visit - though I'm told you have to book at weekends as its popular ...

Try the Iranian tea or a hub-bub pipe !!!

It's "persian" not "iranian"

and yes, the food is quite tasty!

Persia was the old western name used for Iran.

I went last night but the US had attacked it for being too close to a McDonalds!

We went here on Saturday night and it was excellent. The food was great, the service was great, I might buy a house near it then I need never cook or go anywhere else ever again!

I must advise everyone to go to this place, it deserves to do well.

Even though they have a bar you can take your own beer / wine which is always a bonus.

Can I be a bit thick and ask for some examples of dishes please? I fancy this place too but not sure if it will be to my frankly very bland tastes...

Go and try it, sure something will be to your tastes. It''s also really cheap. Have the ice cream for pudding aswell, it's really nice.

They do a reasonable selection of veggie stuff,

They do a stew (gemiyah) that is all vegetables, that's absolutely delicious.

Im a HUGE fan of Shiraz

Ive been in there for over 2 hours, had 3 courses each and had a fantastic time.

I think it still only came to a bit over £20

We went one night when an Iranian wedding party were in there....it was amazing...free cake, dancing and smoking the Hookah, mnum mnum

No, but he was very cute wasn't he! We were sitting infront/behind those 8, nearer the window....3 stunning, dark women - how could you have missed us!
Really was nice meal, came back and raved about it to my husband just to tickle his tastebuds.
