Couple of things really, firstly my alarm LED stopped flashing a while back I thought nothing of it but then I've recently been informed that it is directly linked to my alarm which doesn't work, and that could be a reason or at least a fault as to why, does anyone know what could be the cause?

Also I've just spent a lot of time down there checking all my fuses and they are all ok, so not them but then I noticed that there are empty slots where my relays go and there is also a relay with no head on it, can anyone tell me what they are for as I have searched google now for over 2 hours and coming up with nothing.

Pic here: http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...0306/photo.jpg

Thanks in advance

I wouldn't worry too much about missing relays. They're usually for things like the rain sensitive wipers, electric mirrors and rear electric windows. The wiring looms are all in place but its the end product which isn't fitted in some lower trimmed models.

As for your alarm, I'd check the earth points in the engine bay first, they're susceptible to water and rusting if not cleaned and protected with grease.

So the relay that is there but not complete, should that not be a worry, surely peugeot wouldn't have fitted it if it wasn't for something?

Any idea where the earth points would be? Would they be coming off the alarm somewhere or some random place on the loom?

Thanks

it looks like that is the socket for a relay, not that there is one missing. Advise by the other poster is where i would start.

I would also replace the fuse, sometime the break in the fuse is so small you can't see that its broken.

Looking at your picture, the socket is there but not the relay. The relay itself is a small square box which unplugs. A Haynes manual will tell you what they're all for.

Don't forget there's also a relay and fuse box under the bonnet, although these are mainly for lights and starting. But it doesn't hurt to check it.

The main earth points is just under the battery tray. Disconnect the battery, remove the tray and clean up the earth point. It should only be a 20 minute job but will make a huge difference to starting and running, and also be good preventative maintenance for the winter.

If you're still having probs my bro is well versed on 306's and is working on one as I type. He's down Attercliffe and will probably be able to help.
