Council Tax [1x Student + 1x Professional]

next year we're looking to get our own place, rented, because in this day and age who can afford to sign up to a house!

im a young prof, and my gf is a student.

i was told, that if we moved in together, we would get 25% off our council tax. not quite sure why, or if this is true?

can someone give me the lowdown?

That's it you get 25% off if your partner is a student. Right hacked me off a few years back when I was employed and shared with 3 students - I was only 25% of the household but still had to pay 75% council tax.

Your girlfriend (as a student) is non person for council tax perpouses so you can aply for single person discount (if there are only you two in the house) which is a 25% reduction in your council tax bill.

You will have to supply them with proof that shehas enrolled each year.

Your girlfriend just needs to get a letter from student services saying that she's a student.
