someone must know if this is open or not.

There is an article in the Star today that suggests it is but we just need clarification.

New to board but thought Id chip in, Parkway is still open, if you drive up Duke Street up past Park Hill you take your second right, (not the entrance near the bus gate). You drive past the doctors car park and follow the norrow road around under the first floor footway, you then have to turn left into another car park and the Parkway is at the end.

Parkway was also on "worst pubs" or was it "roughest pub" in Britain programme

I hate drinking out of jugs though, John! You can't beat a nice pint glass!

It was right funny in a sad way. A 70 year old bloke with half his ear missing and track suits galore. The barmaid was a right peach

I don't remember it being so rough in the 60s. My grandmother used to drink there.

Yes Djscottk, you are right it was. I lived on City Rd and had some mates who lived in the flats. The Tavern would be our first port of call on our way out. Just to wet the whistle, so to speak.

The Parkway is ok if you take it for what it is! (a run down pub in council flats) I''ve been in many times and it doesn't deserve to be listed as one of the roughest pubs in Britain! Sure if you go in with an attitide looking for trouble some one will have no worries about sorting you out but if you keep yourself to yourself its just the same as any other place.

Nice to hear someone talking sense?! I'm currently visiting all the pubs in Sheff (386 and counting!). If I had a pound for every pub i'd been in that i'd been warned off I could retire...I always believe that somewhere is never as bad as its reputation...I'll post my findings soon!!!

Hello all, and Hello DJ Scott!

Are you the same DJ Scott who does Climax and Fairy Liquid? It's good to see you on this forum. I've only just signed up, and people might recognise me as the Sheffield Drag Queen.
Yes, the Parkway is (the only one of 4 pubs) still open in Park Hill, and it looks rough, but I'd say the vast majority of the crowd there are OK! Haven't been there in ages though -occasionally they might have a special event with some kind of finger food laid on.

I don't know how much longer Parkway will be open; the flats are being cleared of tenants in phases -Phases 1 & 2 at the lower end are almost totally empty-, but Phase 3 where the pub is, and 4&5 are still fairly populated.

God knows what Parkhill will be like after the refurb, but it would be nice to still have the odd traditional pub, and also affordable rents and prices for flats!!!!
