Last night whilst out on one of their walks, my little black hearted bitch went missing. There were many sightings of her up to about 8pm then nothing. I went out again this morning and postered the estate where she was last seen (about 2 MILES away from where I live) and asked around but no one had any information.
At about 3pm I received a phonecall saying that she was seen in the carpark of the Drawbridge Pub (Upper Wortley Road Rotherham) at around 8.15pm in the company of a family.
Mum, dad (Fazal - sorry about spelling and he is white, not Asian as the name may suggest - he sometimes drinks in the Drawbridge or the George on Meadowbank Road), 2 girls and a boy.
She was playing with the girls (who were calling her Ruby) and they were asking to keep her. At 8.15 a cab (444444 don't know the name of the firm) came to take the family home. The driver refused to take the dog so the man, using mobile phone headphones as a makeshift lead walked off down Upper Wortley Road.
He did tell the people who rang me that he would return the dog to its owner (me) IF his local area was postered BUT they do not know where he lives other than somewhere on the MEADOWBANK estate. This estate is very big and I cannot possibly poster it all on my own but do not want to miss anywhere just in case its the area where she is. The lady rang me back later on this evening to tell me that she thinks he lives on MEADOWBANK ROAD so that is the first area to get postered.
I have rang the Drawbridge and they were very helpful, am expecting the manager to ring me back later on tonight as he is locking up tonight and knows the dad of the family and may know his address.
She is spayed and microchipped (and if you or you know anyone who scans a dog in the next few days scan her you will find all my details but the dogs name on the chip is that of her brother, her brothers chip reads her name).
Please help - and if I get her back she is never going off lead again ever.
Fazal, or your family, if you read this PLEASE get in touch 07949 466911 - I own her brother too and he is pining for her - as am I - please let me have my girl back.

Good luck in getting your dog back, sounds like you have a lot of good information and if this guy is a regular in the pub someone must know where he lives. Keep us updated.

Oh dear! You do not seem to have much luck with your dogs, I think you have a troup of escape artists
Best wishes in getting her back, it must be a horrible feeling.

isnt that theft by finding? he knows the dog isnt his and knows somebody has lost it but is making excuses as to why he shouldnt give it back.
id be phoning the police quite frankly.

I would have thought it was a case of theft by finding IF he knew who the owner was (but he did not). When I had Ru stolen (twice) by the same woman me hearing her
Admit she had my dog
Refuse to bring him back
Refuse to let me go and collect him
Refuse to take him to a "neutral" place so we could be re united
DID NOT (according to South Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire Constabularies) make a case of theft by finding - so this situation (where I did not know where she was or who had her or could speak to them) is likely to engender the same response (i.e the police DO NOT care about dog related crime.
Anyway I logged on to let you all know that I have managed to track her down - she was on the Meadowbank estate.

Maybe it would be worth putting your postcode and mobile phone number on the ID tag? Then if they are found there is no reason why they cannot be returned. Chips are great, but unless you have access to a reader they are useless in the very short term, so your dog gets taken away from the area it is found.
I have both my boyf and my mobile numbers on my dogs tag so if he very got lost they could ring right away and get one of us.

Evei, my dogs are all legal - this means they all have the correct details on their collars, the family just did not want her to be found.

That's terrible.
Like Evei, I assumed that she hadn't been wearing a tag or that there wasn't sufficient information on the tag. With the family saying they would return her if the area was postered, I assumed they didn't have the information required to return her without this being done.
Do you think it was more of a case of them having some warped idea that if you postered the area it showed you cared (where clearly, a well kept, tagged and microchipped dog should!) because she'd managed to go missing??
My Eddy did a runner twice when he was starting to go senile and I didn't realise - it's those sorts of things that alert you to senility! (He also bombed off once when a loud bang went off and he ran into bushes - I honestly thought he'd stayed in the bushes but found him with a family near the road).
Thankfully, when Eddy was found the first time he did a runner he was walked around til the family found us (his tag came off when he bolted ), he actually ran to my car and would've waited for me to get there but before I got there two little girls found him and, trying to catch him and return him, they ended up chasing him off further! The other time he ran home from the park (on the same road) so that was when his offlead days came to an end
Thing is, if they've always recalled before, you don't know they're going to do a runner til they do it!

They're great aren't they
When I get their collars sorted out I'm thinking of having them (but am considering combi collars so it may not work).
The girls haven't lost their tags at all and have had them a fair while but I'm disappointed to see Bubble's has started to wear and I don't know if it will affect the engraving in time (it's too soon for this sort of damage imo). I'm not spending a fortune on new collars and tags yet though, not while they're still 'ok'!

I was about to comment that that sort of tag wouldn't work with neoprene collars with the big chunky plastic clips- and then I saw that you can buy an Ezydog neoprene collar with their tags already on!
I'd prefer it in a different colour, but it's definitely worth bearing in mind for when Molly needs another set. Thank you for the link

They do do tags for those!
If you're purchasing had made leather collars which won't allow retro application (such as a half check), you can ask your collar maker if you can send them the tag for inclusion in production
