Just bought my wife some from an ebay shop for her birthday. Brand new, ligitimate real thing etc, boxed sealed, hologram - paid £86 (including postage at £6).
Tried her hairdressers first - they wanted £110, or £130 for pink ones!!!
I hope they're pretty damn good for that price!

They are pretty good.. if i had enough time to straighten my hair all the time (or if it stayed straight for more than 5 mins when i did) then i think i would probably invest in some... they are a little pricey though i guess! X

Like SatanInHeels says, they are supposed to be a great product, the top of the range.
Of course, though, the reason they're the price they are is that the manufacturers know they can get away with it! GHD Hair Straighteners are a cool product that are very fashionable to own, so expect to pay a high premium for the privilege of owning a set!

also the fact is most of the cheaper hair straighteners aren't ceramic and thus do a lot more damage to ones hair, increased split ends, drying your hair out more etc...
ahem, erm, not that I know anything about hair, straightening or owt... because I'm a guy, and I'm not gay, and straight guys know nothing about hair products... *goes and washes, conditions his hair then adds some lovely coconut oil* hmm... DOH!

It's not just the ceramic aspect of them, you CAN get cheap ceramic ones, it's the heat (very high temperatures).
They ARE fantastic, and I can always tell when someone's gone from cheap straightners to GHD (or other "good" ones) - their hair is like glass.
They are worth every penny and your missus won't look back.

Yes I have to agree, I have some and I also have very very naturally curly hair, these are the only ones that will sort out my hair.
Have bought the cheaper ones before and you can really tell the difference, they are worth every penny

yeah but you should all still remember that even GHD's do damage to your hair so you should take excellent care of it, if you have a hair test you'll be able to tell what parts of your hair you straighten, you shouldn't start too close to the root else your hair will be damaged as it grows out... which sucks...
also, treat it at least once a week with some coconut oil (stuff for hair not cooking!) after a bath or something, it helps to naturally condition your hair and give it some oil, and reduces damage also with straightening
ok i'm switching off my hair advice mode now before i make a big ass of myself

Yeah, sorry, me and all the other stupid women didn't know that straightening our hair ruins it.
I just thought it'd be ok putting 210° through my hair.

I adore my GHD's... I bought myself some as a birthday present last year and they are the bestest thing ever... I know its been said before but you can't beat them...
Plus... I've paid 60 - 70 quid for other brands and seen them reduced to 20-30 quid weeks later... NOTHING more annoying... I'm kinda comforted by the fact that GHD's are still top of the tree and still just as expensive...!!

OK confession time! The straightners are for my wife for her birthday.... BUT..... she won't be the only one getting the use out of them.
My daughter, thinks my hair looks like the dark haired guy in McFly when I straighten it - I think I look like his 35 year old DAD!! Anyway, I suppose it looks more like his than, say, Leo Sayers!

I love my GHDs also, what I don't understand is why they don't reduce the price and sell more. I got mine years ago when they first came out and only paid £65 for them through my hairdresser as they weren't available to the public at that point. When they started to get popular the price shot up. I guess they know how good their product is so want to make as much money as pos. Thing is if they were a bit more competitive then maybe the people who buy the cheaper immitations would opt for GHDs instead.
