Lost internet connection it says No DNS?

Hi guys, having abit of.a problem with my internet. Its been working fine all day then all of a sudden the internet stopped working, so I've diagnosed it and the error says no dns. All the lights on my roter are fine so it should be working. Anyone got any idea what's wrong

Best thing to do is contact your ISP too see if they are having troubles on there side.

I would think more on the line of Firewall being corrupt try turning off the FW for a few minutes while you try to connect if OK then disconnect from net and remove FW and reinstall it then try again
Nothing nasty is likely to happen with a short test

Its likely to be an issue with your ISP's DNS server unless you are using third party DNS servers.

There are plenty of "Open" DNS servers you could try and use instead (search for Open DNS) ...or try 4.2.2.2 as your alternate DNS server and that should fix your issue.

Of course contact your ISP also as its always best to use their DNS servers if possible...just wanted to give you a couple of alternatives.

What time did it go off? Who's your ISP (Internet Service Provider)?

Mine went off at about 7 - 7:30; see this thread (last few posts)

It's back on now. Not sure if the phone line was down - had a dial tone but never physically tested the line.

You didn't say if you were using Firefox or IE?

With DNS it won't matter.

I use OpenDNS and set the DNS on my machine rather than the router.

Went to bed

No i didn't do anything i just left it and then when i got up it was working again. So it must have been a problem on aol's side.

anymore problems like DNS trouble, you can go here: http://www.opendns.com/
finds you a Reccomended DNS for FREE, great to use if yours ever is down!
