If you can, avoid going along Stannington road. Police and Ambulance in attendance, looks like a kid's been knocked down.

If he was the tall lad in the grey top, then give him a hug, bless him he looked distraught.

From The Star:

A BOY has suffered head, chest and facial injuries after being struck by two vehicles on a Sheffield road this afternoon.
The 11-year-old was hurt at the junction of Stannington Road and Wood Lane near the Anvil Pub in Loxley at around 3.15pm.

Police and an ambuance were called and paramedics checked the boy's chest, pelvis and legs.

The youngster was conscious and breathing.

Police said his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The incident caused traffic gridlock at the junction of Holme Lane and Stannington Road was blocked off by police.

As I said before my lad was with him when it happened (they were walking home from school together). He was a little shook up but said he is sure his friend will be okay as he was talking and lucid, the children called the ambulance and the boys parents who arrived on the scene quickly.

Hopefully he will be fine, I'll pop along to see the parents tomorrow when all the dust has settled.

Please convey my best wishes - he was a brave young man and was very polite even whilst in obvious pain XX

I think they mean the merger of the two schools up there and are trying to say that there will be more accidents like this because of the merger.

Well if he/she wants to score cheap political points over an accident involving a child, fair enough.

Cant see this sort of thing being in the forefront of those against a merger!

My daughter was rather shaken having witnessed the accident too; please let us know how the lad is when you get to hear about it.

I live practically next to where it happened and witnessed the aftermath of it. I see the children coming down from school every day and it does not surprise me that there has been an accident. As with any group of kids coming out of school there is running, horseplay and pushing just about every day. Sometimes they walk in the road and totally ignore your car.

I am very very sorry that this boy has been injured and hope he recovers quickly.

I didn't witness the accident but stopped and attended to Bobby in the road until the ambulance arrived. I am pleased that his injuries weren't more serious than they could have been. He was a very brave young man and very polite too - he's a credit to you.
Give him my good wishes and I wish him a speedy recovery.

Thank goodness it wasn't as bad as it looked.
You're so right about the cars. I was talking to a teacher from the infants up there yesterday morning (obviously prior to the accident) about the speed humps, and how many people disregard them completely. I have read on here too that people have found that if they don't slow down, it has little effect on them/their vehicle. I don't know how true that is, but I very often have irate drivers who overtake me on Wood Lane when I drive slowly...not because of the bumps, but because of the kids....which I assume is why they were put there in the first place. It annoys the heck out of me when drivers disregard them
Thanks for coming on and letting us know how your son is, and I hope he recovers very quickly.
