Anyone else having problems with their sky signal? Ours has been stuttering on and off for 4 days.

Anything recorded on Sky plus is the same. I think its signal as opposed to tv related.

Any ideas on how to rectify appreciated.

Jim

Can't help, I'm afraid - wish I knew the answer, cos ours has been the same. I wonder if it's the ash in the atmosphere?!

Is there any trees growing in the path of your dish? At this time of year there are often reports of low signal on sky boxes, caused by trees (which weren't a problem before) growing and then blooming.

Depending on how thick the cloud is it may be but that would effect the whole area or, if it's the uplink that is being blocked, everyone using the system.
Other common causes.

Dish out of alignment. Usually a knock by the window cleaner or poor installation. You are aiming at something the size of a bus about 7,000 miles away. The slightest touch can be a problem.
LNB starting to die.
Water ingress in coaxial cable - usually caused by either poor installation or stress on the cable.
It can also be the receiver on the blink but that is less likely.

Oh yer. Forgot the trees. They grow so can get in the way over time. Remember the dish is pointing up as well as along so they have to be either close or very big.

NEVER try to reset or reposition the dish alone. You will cock up.

Tories will probably blame Gordon Brown on his lax satelite policies.
