We've been and bought our new henhouse which will be delivered on Wednesday! You can bet that it will be up and ready for occupants by nightfall!

Now OH is so excited (and so am I), he wants his chickens asap! Digging around, I have only found suppliers to the north of Sheffield. Does anyone know of anyone to the south? We live in Killamarsh and it would be easier (and kinder to our chickens) not to drag them on a long journey in one end and out the other through Sheffield.

Make sure you leave room for a few ex-batts

Do you know what breed you want?

I would defo go for ex bat's. They look scraggy to start with but oncethey feather up they look amazing. And the sense you get from knowing you've saved a life is incredible. They are also really friendly once they get to know you.

Definitely hybrids, but we are not particular. We will save room for a rescue but OH is rather excited about it all and wants them now or sooner if possible!

So close? I will try and find a phone number for Boiley Farm and give them a ring.

I know the feeling, I'm the same every time we have a rehoming, and none are ever intended to stay with me (we've had the odd miscount or return if they can no longer be kept for whatever reason).

If you just want hybrids (and ex-batts) then I have a couple of numbers of places not too far away but they're on my works email so I won't get it till Tuesday.

there's a lass selling some pullets and young cocks in killamarsh if you come across her ads, but compared to Storrs she is way overpriced, just to warn you!

Darn it - we have just taken delivery of our new hen house. Mind you although it went up well, the flap for the nest box doesn't fit!
