Don came to notoriety in the late 70's as the DJ that single handedly turned a whole generation of punks onto reggae. He continues to DJ nationally and internationally playing a strictly old and new school dub reggae. His set is in the spirit of his time as DJ at London’s legendary Roxy club back in ’77. As the 'Dub Cartel Sound System' he has performed DJ sets for The Rough Trade 25th Anniversary, Jarvis Cocker’s Desperate Sound System, Trojan, Lee Perry’s Meltdown, Glastonbury 2003/4 and Stussy's 25th anniversary. His credits as a director include a variety of films and documentaries, including 'Dancehall Queen', 'Westway To The World' and 'PUNK: Attitude'. From the late seventies through to early nineties Don directed over 300 music videos for acts as diverse as: Bob Marley, The Pretenders, Musical Youth, Elvis Costello, Big Audio Dynamite, Public Image, The Jungle Brothers, S’ Express, Black Grape, The Pogues, Beenie Man, Deep Forest, Apache Indian, The Jungle Brothers, Eddie Grant, Sly & Robbie, and all The Clash videos. Don has also compiled albums for labels such as Island, Heavenly, Sanctuary, Trojan, and Greensleeves. In March 2007, he released his autobiography in hardback: ‘Culture Clash: Dread Meets Punk Rockers’. Don currently hosts his weekly Culture Clash Radio show on BBC 6 Music.
