If you could had the choice to view your future just once in your life, would you? and when would you choose to?

I already know my future. Not something I chose but something that was thrust upon me.

Actually - when you get to a certain age you can look back upon the past and you get a pretty damn good idea about what is ahead. History does have a tendancy of repeating.

Bleugh! No!

Certainly not.

'Sides, then you get into the 'if you can see into the future and see what's going to happen, can you take steps to avoid it?' issue..... like you don't take the bus on that day or don't marry that person or you keep smoking 'cos you can see you're going to live to a happy and healthy 102 yo..... would your 'vision' still come true if you altered the course of events? Or would the vision encompass the fact that you were going to alter the pattern because you had the vision?

How do we know that dosent happen already though.

Are we so sure we cant see the future and alter it, why does one person die in an accident next to you and you dont.

You cannot alter the future - you only think you are altering it. The future is set, but there is no reason to feel dismay at this like some people seem to do. Waste of time trying to change what is going to be anyhow.

So - you get a glimpse of the future where you see a friend being knocked over by a pink car. You are then able to stop your friend from being anywhere near a pink car - so it does not happen. You did not change the future. The friend was never supposed to be hit by the car. But it has affected your life where before you would have been following a different path.

Think about it perhaps.

This sounds like complicated stuff.

I can't say that I believe that the future is already mapped out for me. I certainly don't believe in fate.

I think we all have to take the responsibility for our own choices and not blame it on some sort of governing force.

And it is fine for you to believe that. Most people need that sort of comfort blanket and I refuse to be the one to try to take it away from them.

Me - I do not mind my future being laid out before me as it offers the chancve that I get to see what lays ahead and maybe start to prepare for such an event.

Free will is an illusion though

Take a look at a short novel called 'The Bridge at San Luis Rey' by Thornton Wilder.

The story is about a bridge that collapses, pitching 5 people in to the gorge. A monk hears about this and asks exactly that question - why did the bridge break on that day, and kill those 5 people? The novel is about the lives of those people and how their lives led them to the bridge at that time.

I like it - it's a good novel, quite thought provoking.

If i was given the choice i would say no. My first thought was yes and maybe 10 years to see how things panned out.

I then asked myself what if i couldn't see my little girl in the future or maybe couldn't see myself. Would seeing this in 10 years explain how it happneded and when it happened? What would my reaction be. So the answer is no.

Therefore i'll live life day by day! Good question though!

I think I'd prefer to visit my past & get even with some 'people' knowing what I know now

So True! That would be a resounding yes. Few bullies would get what they deserve.

Are those bullies still bullies I wonder? Maybe if you went back and sorted those people out who bullied you then you would stop them from having done great things for other people?

If you changed the past then you would not be the person you are, nor the person you are going to be. The point would be what?

Deal with each day as it hits you. Enjoy life for what it is. Knowing that your life is mapped out ahead of you and is firmly set does not detract from the value of living it.

Now I must return to my meditations to find the wisdom of the lotus. LOLOL . PMSL

In that case youwhatref - you have not learnt through your experiences and will probably be bullied again - or worse still - be a bully, though you may not realise that is what you are doing.

The past is the past. It has gone. Time to forget and realise those people are different now to how they were.

Let the memories fade into inimportance. We are all bullied at some time or other adn we are all bullies at some times or other. It is who we are now that is important surely.

Revenge. You may as well p**s into the wind.

I have very much learnt Dragon, i'll never have it again thankfully as i wouldn't let it happen. Also i would never ever wish to cause intimidation, being bullied many years ago makes sure of that.

But you are right in that it is what we are now. Being at school at the experience of it makes me who i am now although it took quite a few years to shake off the major insecurities
