I remember me and my mate being followed round a supermarket by a security guard - who totally ignored the smackhead who left without buying anything despite being in there longer than we were!

It happens.

Go to Zing Vaa restaurant on The Moor and you'll be given long, hard stares by the staff and management.

They give the impression that they're expecting you to do a runner any minute.

And once you give them your credit card, they thoroughly expect it to be declined, hovering over the card machine and casting glances back at you to see if you're still there.

Indeed, on my way out and bidding 'good night', I half expect to be felled with a Grade A karate chop.

Shame really as I like their food.

Its not just the young ones they follow. I don't like it when they pounce on you soon as you walk through the door

Go careful. I posted a thread similar to this some time ago and got branded paranoid :-)

I always get followed around in shops.... Apparently, it's because I have a buggy and an oversized handbag (go figure??!!??) I get really offended and sometimes get quite vocal about it too. I mean, I've never stolen anything in my life and am not gonna start in Primark!!!

We got followed around Decathlon last time I went in, but they probably did right as we went on to have a game of tennis in the isle.

I went to primark at meadowhall and the lift was broke, I had my friend and her new born with me. We had to go out of primark to get the lift outside to go upstairs.

We walked out with a empty basket to take upstairs and the security guard followed us and said we can't take off with there baskets we could be prosecuted lol.
Like I would want to rob a empty basket I would at least fill it with clothes first.

I told him we was just going to take it up in the lift with us to upstairs section of the shop. He took it off us , I never laughed so much about anything.

Maybe it's paranoia maybe not but I sometimes feel like a criminal when I'm out shopping. I think it's worse in Meadowhell than anywhere else, maybe a lot of people who shop there thieve... . It's not very nice when you're totally innocent though.

It's probably a result of them looking at you looking at them looking at you. It always makes you look guilty anyway.

Ha ha ha! I don't walk in all hunched over with my hands in my pockets, shiftily looking from left to right . It's more of a sense... you know, like when you can tell someone's staring at you 'cause they're burning a hole in your back.

Just cos you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you

Burglaries are down significantly on, say, 10 years ago. This is because loads of burglaries were to feed drug addictions. Burglary is now out of favour with addicts because things like TVs and DVD players fetch less money second hand than they used to. Shoplifting is now the crime of choice of addicts, which is why store guards are more prevalent and keener.

Some people just must have that face.
I am always followed about and was one even asked to go though my bags at the tills at PC WORLD and empty my pockets for doing no more than be with my dad who happened to be buying £3oo worth of gear of them.
I went mad after and demanded that they tell me the contact details for their regional dixons group office after someone in the cue pointed out that they had no right to ask me to show them anything.
The security guard who was an old jobs worth was still un apologetic and told me to take it up with his employers if I wanted as he didnt give a crap.

My dad still bought his things tho and that got me more furious still.

I hate some of these people, I wouldnt mind but I havent stolen anything from a shop in over 3o years
