Hi
I have just had a go at building myself a site with officelive and would really appreciate people's honest opinions.
www.hairaddict.co.uk
Thanks

Really like the site. Looks very professional.

My only criticism would be the font. I'm not sure if its just me but it doesn't look as if it fits in with the "theme" of the site... It needs to be a lot softer - Maybe more italics?

Just IMO though

P.S Hair extensions are mega bucks!

Thanks for your comments, really appreciated! I will have a look at different fonts and see if I can 'soften' it up a bit.
Unfortunately it really isn't mega bucks. By the time I have bought the hair, the keratin, travelled twice to the clients house and spent 6 hours fitting them, the amount made really doesn't look as impressive as you might think!

Well good luck with your business venture!

As a side note, have you thought about setting up an e-commerce site selling hair related/extension products? Piece of **** to set up and costs for you would be minimal.

All you need to find is a supplier and decide what you wanna sell...

Every little helps etc..

I've just changed the site to italics and it does look better thanks!
I have thought about it and am in discussion with my supplier about becoming a wholesaler so we'll see...
To be honest the most difficult thing at the moment is finding the time to fit everything in!
I work full time, plus do the hair extensions, plus I make swarovski crystal tiaras and bridal jewellery! (need to sort a site for that soon too!)
I never stop!!! Need a holiday

great photos. i'd take the 'bold' and 'italic' off the text, the reason the text looks so hard is because it's bold.

Thank you!
I know it is obviously a 'diy, template' type site but it will do the job!

Hi pattricia
Yes it's my first attempt at a website!!
I just can't afford to pay for a professional one to be built so I thought I'd give it a go.

Well done, thecolour scheme is good, the pictures high quality and they load quickly.

One point though

http://hairaddict.co.uk/contactus.aspx no address...I never buy from a site where there are no trading details...how do people get hold of you if they have a problem...you need to reassure them by giving them an address and a local landline number.

Also, assuming you are only interested in a specific geographical region...why not use a domain like www.hairextensionsinsheffield.co.uk (it's available!). Google takesint account domain names (i.e. people are likely to search hair extensions in sheffield if they are looking for someon who does hair extensions in Sheffield). Also register your site at Google maps too.

Good luck with your venture.

Thanks Steve.
Good point about my address and landline, I'll put them on the contact page.
If I was to buy a domain like you said, could I then point it to hairaddict.co.uk?
I registerd it on googlemaps last night and added it as a site in google web tools.
Thanks!

You can point other domains that you own to your existing site, but it probably isn't worth registering a new domain for. It'd have to be used as your main domain name to be much use for the keywords in it. I think you're fine with the domain you've got.

You'd need to redirect from the domain name in a specific way (301 redirect) so that search engines don't see it as a duplicate of your main site & lower your ranking for it.

It sounds like you're doing fine so far, to me.

You need to have different titles & meta descriptions on each page of your site, they should briefly describe the content of each of those pages. That will help with seo a bit. It should also make the site map page useful.

Hi Sarah

Your website looks very nice to me.

I noticed a typo on your homepage. The word 'occassion' should be spelt 'occasion'.

No, you would need to host your site at that domain name (and point hairaddict to this domain)...best example of this is B&Q, their domain is www.diy.com.

For my business www.productdesign.co.uk would be ideal but the guy who owns it wants 10 grand...we offered 2 but he still turned us down
