I don't know (obviously) how old your master socket is but have you taken the plate off and tried the filter in the test socket behind the cover plate?
This well-rounded thread from another forum may also assist but not BT related but a lot to think about!
I don't know if removing the bellwire in each socket will help the situation but for my ISP the speed did improve! Look at this article for information.
Remove all telephones from sockets and connect one phone to the microfilter and your router/modem. Then see if you have the same problem?
To me it sounds like a filter has been removed from somewhere or an extension lead has been reconnected to the wrong place taking one filter out of the system.
I have tried the test socket and the line is perfect, no crackling.
This signals an internal fault, at the moment there are only two phone points in use the main one with the phone and an upstairs point with broadband so not much to go wrong, I have checked both of these and they appear fine.
When you make or receive a call the line crackles after about 3-4 seconds then the broadband signel is lost.
Its driving me mad.
