Has anyone else noticed the huge increase in dog mess on the southern pavement side only of Taplin Road in the last few months?
It's now a continuous line of muck from Ball Road to Middlewood Road. There must be some new dog owner about who is responsible. Strangely, the north pavement is clear. I've reported it, but expect nothing to come of it.
I've got relatives visiting for Xmas, and do you know what their first comment about Sheffield was? - "I can't believe how much dog muck there is". Nice. Not at all embarrassing and what a lovely perception for visitors to this city to take away with them. Any helpful comments on how to "catch" those responsible and point out the error of their ways appreciated.

Least it's not like one of the woods that MTB'ers use in Leeds.
It affectionately referred to as Dogs**t woods.

Unfortunately there's not really an alternative apart from watching and catching people letting their dogs poo and not clearing it up. All of the responsible owners who clear up after their dogs would be singing from the same hymn sheet as you, so there's no point in blaming 'dog owners' as a group.

I'd certainly be as keen as you to stop it from happening if it happened near my house, but thankfully our road has no passing traffic and all of the dogs who live here have owners who clear up after them.

If there's an ongoing issue then how about asking the council to put up signs warning owners of the fine for not clearing up after your dog? The signs in themselves may not effect any change, but at least you could point out that the dog wardens are monitoring the area (just about the same time as you hand the owners a bag).

I hate walking my dog on here. We complained about it outside our house and the poo man 'staked' out our road for a while but nothing came of it. Them yellow spray dog fouling signs seem to have some affect on roads that has them. I do agree though-these cases only seem to be 1 dog, not everyone doing it.

The council have spray painted on the pavement on my nans road, bright yellow. Something along the lines of No Fouling.. try asking the council for that or something?

When I was living on Ball Road, there was always one, fresh still steaming at the end of our path each morning...

I'm afraid I've noticed the rise in turds and have taken to sloshing a bucket of water to remove them. While there are a lot of responsible owners out there, there's some absolute oiks who have no consideration for anyone else.

People like this give us responsible dog owners a bad name. Have you asked any of the neighbours if they have seen the culprit? I know when my dog takes a dump, she isn't always a quick, so I'm sure someone must have seen the culprit in the act?!!

I live on Taplin Road, and noticed a few weeks ago how bad the dog fouling had become. I reported it to the council via email, and had a reply from Streetforce, who also forwarded details to Environmental Services and the Animal Control Team.....Maybe they all need a reminder!

Yep, it definitely has gotten much much worse recently. And strange it's only one side of the road. Dogs do have to do their business, I'm not anti-that, but when out on a public road it just seems some owner(s) are a little irresponsible (and I'm certainly not saying all owners are).
