What do people think? A lot of the budget goes on overtime. I think this is because of the lack of officers, so increases the work load forcing officers to stay on duty. Also looks like we might have to share our police helicopter with another force. This can only mean good news for criminals.

Get rid of the pcso's and use the money to pay for more officers, that would be a start.
The chopper is being cut back and also the dog unit and mounted police will be affected by the cut backs. It's crazy, the public want to see more of a police presence yet they cut the funding every year. The government now want officers to be single crewed as it makes it look like more officers are on the beat - am sure that will be fun when 1 officer turns up to disperse a fight on his/her own with a stick and can of spray as their only defence!
like most police forces SYP is top heavy with departments / civilians that are nothing to do with policing.

In fact the title of this thread should be changed to "south yorkshire police helicopter to go.."
be under no illusions that this is whats being planned. SYP wont share its chopper with someone else. It will go, and they will have to pay to use someone elses when the need arises...!!

'PCSO's walking around in gangs' - heretic - don't you know they are the saviours of modern day Policing. I don't know how SYP managed without them - not.
