HSS hire shops theres one listed at the parkway and one on penistone road:

http://www.hss.com/index.php?s=drain+rods

this should get you to the driain rod page if you look at branches it will give you the full address.

I presume by worm you mean the one with the brass screw on the end ?

Better buying some for the future. Homebase have them. The more expensive ones are thicker, mine are pro ones nearly one inch thick and can easily run in 50ft or so, depends how long your drain is and how far along the blockage might be.

mary70 doesn't like the Wickes ones but doesn't say why.

Last edited by carosio; 28-11-2009 at 22:20. Reason: might be because they're not long enough.

the wicks ones were no good because they dont bend round the trap which is where the blockage was, thats why we needed the worm which one of my husband builder friends gave us, these will bend and go round corners as they screw there way through, ty all for your help

Ah! I ought to have realised, it's the u bend in your gulley trap, I thought it was the sewer drain, under the inspection cover.

Did you manage to get one?
