I luuuuuuurve Christmas

If I hear a couple of notes of an old christmas song Bing etc it actually brings a tear to my eye

I love the pretty shiny things

I love that people try harder to be happy

I love the surprise of a present you have never thought of but that is perfect

I love the time off work

I love being with the family I don't really see for the rest of the year......

Just wanted to share that!

I have to admit to humming "We Three Kings" quite often whilst strolling around the office recently.

I'm not typing all this lot again.

Loathesome time of year, and I'm sick of it already.

I love Christmas

For all the reasons given in the OP

I'm off Christmas present shopping tomorrow, hoping to get it all done then off to Spain next week for a week.

Awww

The joys of Christmas.

You grumpy sod, go eat a mince pie and serenade your loved ones with White Christmas.

"I hate Christ(TM)mas. Everything to do with it. I hate the endless stream of rubbish which is foisted upon us for our "entertainment" by broadcasters. I hate the garish decorations. I hate carols. I hate the bloody same Christ(TM)mas muzak being inflicted on my ears for about 2 months."

Don't watch TV then, its crap anyway.

Buy better decorations, make them yourself or don't have any.

I have to listen to my christmas cds all month because they don't have enough christmas music on the radio so I assume you are talking about in the shops-this would annoy me too so I do internet shopping!

I hate the once a year drinkers. I hate the escalation of violence. I hate the pointless exchanging of cards. I hate family who descend on me, invading my time and space because they feel like it.

Not much of a drinker and never go out on a saturday night because of the disgusting behaviour I observe, go out in the week instead!

Go and visit your family then they won't invade your space, or close the curtains and turn opff the lights pretending not be in

I hate stupid people who insist on giving my kids more e-numbers to consume than they have hairs on their heads. I hate the gimmicks. I hate the noise. I hate the carol beggars.

Force your kids fruit until they can't stuff in any enumbers!

For carol singers see above

I hate the falseness. I hate the false love. I hate the false friendship. I hate the office parties. I hate the people, for whom there is mutual hatred between myself and them, who come up to me half hammered, and bore me senseless with their inanity. I hate the same people (even more) as they decide to be a friend for a day or two - hypocritical gets. I hate people trying to force me to be happier. I hate the false 'jollity'. I hate being forced to 'enjoy myself'. I hate being told "It's only once a year.".

It ain't false in my house, its just a time when everyone knows they should be at home which is nice.

The office party is annoying but it is one night of the year when you have to play nice.

My jolliness is not false

It is only once a year...hahaaaa

I hate it all.

I'll get my crate of whiskey, kick everyone out to wherever they want to go, lock the door, and tell the world to go away in jerky movements for a few days.

Thats fine and I hope you enjoy yourself

Some people secretly like christmas because its an excuse to moan about the decorations, the family coming to visit and those pesky gifts

merry christmas!

And immediately, you manage to display exactly why the time of year is both false, and appalling.

I just want to mind my own business ignoring the whole débacle, and in your reply you have ordered me
  1. to go and see people I don't like,
  2. to attend parties I find cringeworthy and distasteful and to be hypocritical whilst there,
  3. to not have any tv or radio* entertainment (though at least this year I'll be able to watch more sport),
  4. and told me when I should go out during the rest of the year,
  5. told me who should be in my house,
  6. told me how to do my shopping,
  7. and even told me how to decorate my own bloody house!

I just want to ignore the whole bloody thing. If others want to enjoy it, then do so. Just don't force me into it, or expect me to give out even the merest semblance of enjoyment. All hail January 7th!

*Not enough crap tinsel songs on the radio? My eye!

My God, what an overreaction what is the matter with you? They were suggestions although I did know when I posted that some people love to create arguments over nothing. Im guessing my last point-originally a bit of a joke was actually spot on

Sure you do, that's why you're taking the time out to respond to a thread about the very thing you want to ignore.

Is it an overreaction? Really?

The thing is, for weeks on end people hype up this time of year, and for a significant number of people, it is Hell on earth.

Whether they were suggestions or not, they were suggestions about actively taking part in a whole charade which I hate. Don't take it personally (I'm sure you didn't!), because it's not just you. It gets worse nearer the time, as even more people see fit to "cheer me up".

Well, actually, I'm quite happy ignoring it all, or at least trying to, and if people were so bloody worried, why didn't they bother trying to "cheer me up" for the other fifty weeks of the year? Why? Because they knew full well I was happy enough. Speaking of Hell, the road to it is paved with good intentions .
