I would just like to remind all the numptys out there that,
TRAFFIC LIGHTS ONLY TURN TO ONE SHADE OF GREEN
have they not read the highway code. red, flashing amber(get ready numty) green for go.
no doubt these are the same numptys that hog the middle lane on the motorway.
or both lanes when aproaching a roundabout.
or stop at a parked car to let on comming traffic through when theres enough room for 2 tanks to get through.
who lets these idiots on the road.

isn't the sequence: red, red and amber, green, amber, red?

Anything WITHOUT red means go as far as im concerned, unless they are changing from green to amber, then I stop, but if I'm waiting and the lights change to flashing amber, I go, is what I've always been taught.

As its not clear what you are trying to say, can I ask if your annoyed with people taking ages to set off or setting off on red/amber??

Numty?
Flashing amber actually means "go" if all the feet are off the crossing (and no more are starting to cross even though they shouldn't) - a slip of the pen on your part, no doubt.

I remember it as red means stop, amber means stop if safe to do so or red and amber, flashing amber at crossings means if no one still crossing you can proceed.

The sequence you describe there means you can go on amber, if its safe, like the guy/gal above said.
Maybe you should read the highway code!
FAIL!!

Somebody (in an old granny style Daewoo Matiz) overtook me through a red light on Friday, nearly t-boned a taxi and careered round the corner into the one way system of Leeds, when I followed on green he had run another light and got stuck behind a bus...
Driven like it was stolen, reg mark anonymously reported to WYP.
Hopefully they got what was coming to them.

As has been said
RED = Stop! No matter what other lights are shown - when it is red stop!
Amber = Be prepared to STOP *only* as long as it is safe to do so!
Green = Proceed as normal but expect the morons!
FWIW - in a few weeks I hope to have installed my CCTV system - this is primerily for 'insurance/accident' reasons. However either the SY police may like the tapes and/or I may introduce my own website.
Name and shame.
For what it's worth.

I think what the OP is trying to say is that when the lights go to amber your should be ready to go, not like the numpties he is on about who sit there and think, Oh lights on green better go, handbrake off - just have a look around then go, and when they have finished the lights have gone back to red and no one else can go;
people who do this really annoy me, especially when, like I do, you know the sequence of certain traffic lights.

think you are all missing the point. I'm moaning about the numptys that are still sat at the lights when they have been on green for a few seconds.

How busy is your life that a "a few seconds" makes that much difference?

this is great, i love it how wound up some people get by other peoples incompitence, and the lengths they will go to in order to vent their frustrations.
i look forward to browsing the site
