Your first offer from the council I take it ??
Batemoor is to sheffield as a bleeding callous is to a hillwalker ... 90% of the houses are flat roof prefabs or other council cheap build that have had that council touch. Make em look like we put a proper roof on em and gave the fronts a bit of a makeover. Cant polish a turd springs to mind....

I lived on Batemoor in the early 1970's so I'm going to watch this thread with interest. When I lived there it was a nice little estate. I have heard it's gonedownhill since then though.

Is it named after some bloke. There must be quite a few Master Batemoors there now.

Go and look on the floor of the carpark of the Batemoor pub, if you like what you see, you will love it there.

Like anywhere, good and bad people - the latter seem to be the trashy, druggie scrubbers that ruin it for the decent, silent majority?

Maybe most Council estates are like this now? (Toothless teachers, powerless cops and spineless laws?)

batemoor is OK....yeah it has its problems...like ALL council estates across the country...but there are a lot WORSE areas in Sheffield to live.

There are the "usual" inhabitants as you would expect on a council estate i.e. alcos' etc...but there are also a majority of decent hard wroking proud people living there as well.

The shopping centre does have the usual "kids hanging around"...but doesn't every estate shopping centre....just bored kids with nowt to do....

The estate had more problems in the early 90's than it does now

Whinacre Close....well if memory serves me right thats at the "top end" of Batemoor....fairly close to the shopping centre....not a bad position.

Like all council areas....it has "good spots" and "bad spots"

Hope you find it a nice friendly safe area to live

I went out with a girl not long ago from Batemoor, she said it had got better recently.

The first time I went to her place there was a burnt out car still smouldering. The second time I went there was what looked like a riot happening outside and the 3rd time I went round my car was smashed.

It's the pits, a truly awful place that should be avoided at all costs.
