What service do they exactly offer ?
As far I can see they are just a money making company. They sneak around areas where they are guaranteed to get results and brighten someone's day!!
What happened to traffic wardens who had a purpose ? They were employed to ensure bus lanes were clear, ticket any cars that were illegally parked, preventing potential dangers.
My rant over !

Parking services is a misleading name and should be banned!
They are not a service because in my experience if you ask them for anything they either don't know or just don't want to answer. Its just another stupid job title brought in under labours political correctness scheme!
Bring back the proper traffic wardens who may have given out dodgy tickets but atleast they did it publicly and not sneaky like these parking services teams do.
Good post Henri! Lets try drum up some support for this mate.

Am I right in thinking that you have parked illegally somewhere and received a fine/clamp?

Clearly, you already know the answer to that, because you've told us what they do. You do appear to be somewhat confused in that you think they're supposed to be providing a service to drivers, rather than to the people who pay for them.

Not at all. I just seem to have noticed an influx of those little vans touring streets looking for prey. They seem to be a simular company to Excel Parking, yet they clearly display the council logo on there very posh jumpers, making you believe they are delivering a public service !

They are Council staff, perhaps that's why?

I watched them turn up at broomhall nursery just as all the parents were in collecting their kids. Am I cynical or was this planned to get the most income?

And what did they observe at the nursery - illegal and anti-social parking?
Surely you must only have feelings for Parking Services if they've either helped you, or you've broken the law and got a fine or ticket?

It's about time they had a tour round the station around rush hour and sort out those whom stop anywhere or park allover the double yellow lines causing gridlock.

coop - They're acting on a complaint or complaints regarding the indescriminate parking that usually occurs around schools and nurseries at drop off and pick up times. Parents not being able to park responsibly or prepared to walk a small distance. This creates bottleknecks and restricts visibility making it dangerous to cross the road. This happens regularly at my local school but parents continue to do it. This is a worthwhile service.

I presume these were parents that were blocking the road and making it dangerous for A) other children who want to cross the road because they have to cross inbetween parked cars and B) other drivers who have to scrape by inbetween illegally parked cars.
Damn right they should ticket them.

I think they do it on tip-offs of clusters of double parking and such.
I wonder if they have started to visit a certain religious establishment on a Friday afternoon to do the same thing?
Methinks not.

They do a damned good job of keeping the bus lanes free of parked cars during peak commuter times.

I wish they would take a trip down South Road, Walkley. There is no need for local people to be parking their cars all along the main bus route on both sides of the road. Especially on a Saturday. There is a reason why you are obese - its because you can't even be bothered to walk to the newspaper shop you idle git. They deserve to be clamped, and to have their wing mirrors smashed off by the buses trying to squeeze through between two parked cars.
