Hello good people of Sheffield.
I am looking at living in Sheffield and would like advice on the best places to live (least trouble etc.) I have read up on various places, obviously the likes of Dore, Fulwood etc. are highly thought off but way out of my budget. Looking at between 80 to 100k. Any thoughts greatly appreciated

I am assuming you are looking for a house and not a flat (as you should be able to pick-up a 1/2 bed flat in the south west of Sheffield for your budget).
Try looking at S6 (not sure which are the good parts but I am sure some others can recommend one), parts of Heeley, Abbeydale, Meersbrook, Woodseats, Mosborough... These are S6, S7, S8 and parts of S20. I would avoid S5, the manor and arbourthorne.
You will probably be looking at a 2 or 3 bed terrace or maybe a small semi.
A couple of examples here:

Hope this helps. Good luck with the search.

Bits of crookes and walkley would probably drop into your budget of 100k and they are nice areas.

Sorry, perhaps bad grammer. I meant that I am not considering those two areas as I know they are way out of my budget. I know that people usually recommend those two.

Loxley is lovely and has great views and countryside. Grenoside is also nice. If you don't have children there are some lovely places which don't have particularly desirable schools so the prices are lower.

[QUOTE=Kaye2812;5532728] I would avoid S5, the manor and arbourthorne.
[QUOTE]
Why?
I live on S5 - Shiregreen to be precise. Opposite a 4 bedroomed detatched which is now the vicarage. Theres plenty of private houses accross the road from me, which are nice and its quite pleasant round here really.
Parsons cross - Tunwell Avenue is a lovely road and so so calm quiet etc and a very nice place to live. As are the roads surrounding it..
Norwood/Longley - Plenty of lovely private houses.
I know that some places on S5 dont have the best rep going but dont disregard the whole of S5 because of a few roads.

I grew up in Shiregreen, it wasn't particularly great then... and is apparently worse now! Parsons Cross was not that nice back then either. My cousin has just moved from Firth Park, she hated it and spent most of her time at my grandads. My sister has just moved from Arbourthorne as she didn't like it there either, she's now in Dronfield and is much happier.
I wasn't just quoting on areas I knew nothing about. But everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I'm glad to hear you like living in Shiregreen, not everyones experiences will be bad I know. We had to move from there due to threats being directed at my brother, so my experience was not good.

I know what you mean but I was meaning you said 'Avoid S5' but not whole of S5 is that bad. There are roads in S6 that I wouldnt like to move to but i'll not go into it. Theres always roads that people want to avoid. I, personally, want to avoid moving round Dryden area of Southey but it doesnt mean i'll not move on the next road. But the OP might find it particually nice around Dryden. (Cant for life of me think why the OP would like it.. )
Shiregreen, I lived here from 1991 - 2000, then moved back last year until now. Personally, I love it here. Someone on here (baby2k or something?) doesnt like it. I know each to their own but I just think stating a whole postcode isnt the nicest way to go about it.
Wherever the OP moves, make sure research the area, visit it in the day and night, check out everything before commiting to buy. Some places offer a deal where you can 'try before you buy' like renting it on a lease for 3 months then putting in an offer to buy if you like, if not moving on - that appeals to me. Good luck

It is also worth looking on the outskirts of sheffield, some areas near Crystal Peaks are nice, Deepcar is ok but lacks resources and dronfield/coal aston is lovely.

Depends on what you want, personally I am happy living in Burngreave and would hate to live in one of the townships like Eckington, Crystal Peaks or Beighton, I imagine that alot of the people who live there would hate living in Burngreave! Do you want to be close to town? Do you have transport? Kids? work? Social life?

It's important that you look at transport for whatever commute you have to undertake. If you have to cross town to get to work/college/etc it can be a nightmare at peak times (strangely called rush hour ).
For instance, it takes me nearly as long to get to Halifax from where I live as it did to get to Shepcote Lane when I worked there, only 15 minutes longer despite being 24 miles further away.

The OP's budget is £100k max which will get you a 1 bed flat only in S10, maybe you could push to a 2 bed or renovation project.
S10 is nice but just limiting yourself to one postcode isn't the best idea.
