I wonder just how many people paid 50 percent more than they
expected for their fruit at Netto.

The price at the till was 50 percent more than the price tag on display.

They then removed the lower price tag when I pointed it out.

I told 'em to stick their fruit - half of it is rotten anyway.

They keep messin' with their prices and it's no longer cheap crap -
just crap.

Going back a few weeks, then last week and then the following day they changed the price of their own brand energy drinks (1L and 175ml respectively), from 69p>89p>65p-65p and 19p>24p>18p>26p.

If I pop into Netto I normally buy some of them, but I don't always look at the prices as I expect them to be the same, I know exactly what I'm going to buy, and take the exact change needed, or send a tenner to the last penny. Although at the rate they are changing their prices it is a bit tricky.

I watched a programme about how food is handled and the fruit thats sold at Netto and Aldi, When fruit is being packed the best stuff goes to M&S then tesco, morrisons, asda like a tiny bruise or summat M&S refuse it.

Anyway after it's all been sorted aldi and netto come in and take the best of the whats the others dont want and The market traders take whats left.

I understand what you're saying and I'll take your word for what you've seen and I tend not to use them for fruit and veg very much, just apples, potatoes, cauliflower.peppers and carrots which compare favourably with other outlets, they don't do much of a range anyway.

With regard to the O.P and others that refer to their prices,I'd agree, they've become erratic at times and also,in terms of percentage, have increased more than most other supermarkets since the start of the "recession",some tinned stuff has tripled in price at the South road branch but on the whole I don't mind Netto and often use it for staples like bread, flour, cheese, coffee, tea bags, frozen chips, pizzas, pork and lamb joints( they do a great fatty loin roast at the moment, compares favourably with any butcher or supermarket),sirloin steaks are pretty reliable too, this all affords me the luxury of nipping into Waitrose for some nice stuff from time to time.

Must say,I've never had a bruised apple from Netto but I have from M&S.I did though buy some sweet potato that must've been so irradiated that it didn't deteriorate for about 8 months, needless to say I didn't eat it.

On the whole Netto are still in my good books,if push came to shove I could still feed five of us for thirty five quid a week if I really, really had to.

Good heavens..how on earth do you manage to feed 5 for £35 weekly? Give me some tips...it costs me an absolute fortune for the 5 of us...this £35 is that just for food to make a meal in the evening or what?

The fruit in netto is cheaper than the other shops, however it is always rotten, or turns rotten very quickly.

I think thats just the evening meal, aka Tea time.

I certainly couldnt feed 3 of us on £35 for breakfast, dinner and tea!

If it is for 3 meals a day for 5 people then pleasee TIPS!

I find the one on South Road very handy for certain bits and bobs - I get through a lot (too many) of frozen pizzas from there

You could see what other people think of all the own brands at supermarkets starting with this link to NETTO
