Hi, has anyone use online check-in? i'm flying with monarch and have the option to do it.
What do you do with your bags if you use the online check in? (we have already paid to pre book seats and paid extra for baggage)

You drop your bags off at a desk, basically a check-in desk.

You are asked the security questions online, I believe.

I have not flown with monarch but with Ryanair you can only check in online if you are only taking hand luggage any luggage which needs to go into the aircraft hold needs to be checked in at the airport check in desk

They will ask the questions again when you drop the bags.
But at least there is usually a seperate drop-off desk with fewer queueing.

Online Check-in is a great advantage and we've used it a lot.
With the scheduled airlines, you get to choose best available seats.

Why was this posted in Sheffield Discussions? It's not Sheffield specific in any way.

I'll move it to General, but in future please start your threads in the appropriate area.

If you only have “hand” luggage it saves a lot of hazel, its amazing the number of custom made cases there are that just fit in to overhead storage, you can tell the seasoned traveller from your holiday maker at 100 paces.

Flew with bmi this year- 2 booked online(its cheaper) BUT can only take hand luggage,2 went through check in with the luggage up to the 25 kg allowances.
You need access to the internet and printer to check in for the return journey. We used an internet cafe in Spain,1euro.

It's good to book online and book your seats. On BA it opens 24 hours before departure so if you get on early you can book the best seats then don't need to turn up hours before at the airport.

Thanks, read small print and there will be a desk to take our luggage too. We could check in from 10 days before! So i can check in for my return journey too, lol! I had to pre-pay for seats tho.

It's good to book online but I feel that preselecting your seats is an unnecessary extra expense.

I went to Switzerland this year with aerlingus and the cost to select your seats was an extra £5 each way(or was it £10....my memory is not as good as it use to be!).
The couple I was going with preselected their seats in the middle aile of the aircraft and encouraged me to preselect my seat so I could sit with them.
I wasn't happy about paying extra money but decided to preselect the seat on the outward journey only.
Selecting seats in the middle aisle of the aircraft was a big mistake as the refreshments trolley (one stared at the front aisle and another started at the rear aisle) took ages to get to us....in fact we were the last ailes to be served on the whole plane.....and we payed extra for the privilege!

When checking in on the return flight I was able to get a seat next to my friends purely by asking the check in staff ,with no extra expense incurred.
Once again on the return journey we were seated in the middle aisle........and yep you guessed it....we were served last in the whole plane

So with that experience that is the last time I will pay to preselect seats and I certainly won't choose to sit in the middle aisle!
