Thumps and bangs in Loxley valley

Anyone else heard these and know what they are?. Two loud 'thumps' like a large firework or small explosive charge being set off on a regular basis through the day. Is it a bird scarer or something?.

Sorry if the question has already been asked.....

I heard this yesterday whilst walking up Loxley, but it sounded much louder than a shotgun to me, I reckon it was a bird scarer.

I have heard these on many occasions and they sound much more like some sort of charge than a shotgun to me too- they're too low in tone to be a shotgun.

Its a shotgun. Someone is shooting pigeon on the Barley field on Rowell Lane, you can see their hide from the road.

I've had many a bang in the Loxley valley.And probably not uncoincidentally many a thump also.

I don't think its a shotgun. Its always the same - two consecutive explosive sounds with exactly the same space of time between each repetition. I've heard people firing shotguns somewhere in the valley and this is a much deeper and more substantial sound.

Yeah - I thought a few people would have experienced 'banging' in the valley. Really didn't expect that response
