The Shiny's had a rough voyage of late but now it's definitely back on its feet.

As a regular I want to endorse this place as it now feels more warm, clean and welcoming than it has done in ages.

The food's spot on, there's an improved wine-list on its way and the pub is both family-friendly and comfortable. The cask conditioned ale is beautifully looked after too.

The new Plasma screens mean you can watch Sky in both the tap-room and the lounge. When we do get sunshine, the front decked area is great with lovely views over Hallamshire Golf Course.

Surprise yourself: Step into the Shiny Sheff. You won't be disappointed!

We've been there several times over the years and each time it was dreadful. On one memorable occasion two of our party were served fish that had burned batter which was soggy, and the fish was still frozen solid on the inside: when we complained, we were told there was nothing wrong with it, and were sworn at by the bar staff.

I do hope it's improved, but doubt that we'll try it again.

Obviously that has nothing to do with the new management.

I think the OP is a great post and wish the new management well - pubs are very hard work these days, often with little or no returns for the lessees. I definitely think they should be commended and will spread the word around.

Wishing the new management all the best!

PeacockLady,

We are sorry to hear of your bad experience at The Shiny Sheff under previous Management.

Our kitchens have been fully-renovated since the previous owners and the new Management Team have implemented a new Menu, with home-cooked specials and an extensive wine list.

We can assure you of a far more welcoming atmosphere, good quality of service and well cooked food if you decide to give us a second chance.

Kind regards

The Shiny Sheff

We are indeed in Lodge Moor. A most beautiful part of Sheffield.

Located at the top of Crimicar Lane, on the corner of Redmires Road, near the Golf Course.

There are some great views from our Beer Garden, when the weather permits. We are also at the start/finish of some wonderful local walks with stunning views.

Family Friendly and in the vicinity of Spider Park.

51 Bus Route outside pub, with a good regular fast service to/from town. Large car park.

Hope this helps you find us!

Cheers!

I have to agree with all the previous positive comments.
The pub is now being run by a brewery not a crappy management company (hope thats right) and as such has spent some well overdue money on the old place.
Charlie & Tina are warm and welcoming people who seem to be turning the place round.

Went at the w/e - food was standard pub grub but homemade and good quality. Staff were very friendly. I wish them well.

Is there a website? Or a menu? Will once again give it a go - can't be worse than it's last few incarnations.

We'd like to put a word in for the present landlord of the Shiny Sheff.

We're not from Lodge Moor originally, and have been in the area for about 6 months, in that time (prior to the current) there has been 3 different tenants.

All have been fairly average and the place was nothing like a pub.

We were in earlier and its a complete turnaround. Their was a good atmosphere, football on the telly, clean and tidy surroundings, food that was great and affordable, and a genuine attempt to please the clientele.

It was the first time we've been in where it felt like a proper pub and thats a testament to the current landlord.

Well done. its like a different pub!!!!

Sounds like it's worth a try then; no pub should be saddled with what's gone before, you can only judge on what's happening now - so I'll be along soon to try a pint.
