Has anyone got any suggestions... I want to go out with a group of friends for my Birthday... somewhere entertaining, preferably closing later than 11.30... but I don't want to go to a club as there's nowhere I'd want to go (apart from maybe Hotpants as it's not really a nightclub)... was thinking of going to Owlerton to dog races for a meal, etc but it's fully booked (and over £20 per head, and you have to dress 'smartly').... hmmm... give me leeds or Manchester any day.... so any suggestions?

Give us a clue when and maybe we'll come up with some ideas.
Casino's open late in Sheffield if you fancy something extravagant... or maybe you could go BINGO but that closes before 11.30.
Ice Skating... must be shows here there and everywhere too.

Strange - thought I posted a big reply to this but it hasn't shown up.... ah well I was saying that I like places like Canal St in manchester (although I'm looking through rose tinted classes at this - circa 1994) where there's cool people and a good relaxed atmosphere - my favourite bar was right at the end of Canal St and was a bit of a club / bar hybrid, with lots of seated areas but also a dancefloor... in Sheffield I like places that are a bit different - The West End pub by the Uni and The Lescar... but they're just pubs and are a bit boring for a really good night out... the dogs would have been excellent (apart from price) cos there's entertainment as well as eating and importantly.. drinking. I really don't want to go to a packed city centre bar full of ****heads...

You don't *HAVE* to have a meal at the dogs - or dress up. I think it only costs that much if you book a ringside table.

This article says its 3 quid to get in and you can get a special deal for a tenner.

Go to the dogs, where what you want, pay a few quid to get in and then buy a couple of the delicious pork sandwiches they sell - jobs a good 'un

Of course the casino is next door as well but you need to be a member (or have one to sign you in) - go down the day before though and you can join.

Er, why not go to Leeds or Manchester?

Same question for me too! My 19th soon and need to find somewhere to go. I can't be doing with a night club as it's too noisy to hear yourself think. All the same applies as chrisnwhite really!

Well afraid to disappoint after making such a fuss myself... but I'm actually going to go to Bed.. a nightclub! but there's two out of the very few DJs I would acutally make an effort to go and see, both playing on the same night... so there you go...

I'm going next Saturday... for the Stanton Warriors and Justin Robertson... it's the Boutique night which I think is the best thing Bed do... can't say I'd be interested in going to a Hed Kandi night... but I'm just not really into 'Funky (yawn) House' anymore...

Hed Kandi is always a bit different though to your normal funky house nights - it's like a big house party, you get all sorts of crazy tunes played from other genres

Boutique looks good - hoping to go to see the Stanton's again
