The bottom of Ecclesall Rd was closed off today by the Police and announced on Radio Hallam this morning, but they would not give any details. At 2pm, there were around 4 police cars on Rustlings road and a helicopter ( not sure if it was a police one ) flying around Ranmoor and Fulwood quite low. Have not seen it mentioned on Calender or anything. Is it something serious? can anyone enlighten me please
dunno, but we were just driving back from cafe rouge on eccie rd and saw a huge plume of black smoke from around that general direction... then on the Waitrose roundabout had to pull over so a fire engine could zoom past.
It was weird, because it didn't seem to be a continuous plume, like a fire. More like one big black cloud of smoke that very quickly dissapated.
Something afoot?

Ecclesall Road was closed this morning due to a traffic accident,
I saw the helicopter at 1.30 - 2.00 ish and it certainly wasn't the police one - it was larger and a greeny-grey colour?
Also saw the smoke - a very large plume of black smoke coming from the Waitrose area - not sure what that was?
I haven't spent the WHOLE day looking out me window - honest
Tapton School had a visit from a past pupil today who is now in the RAF to do a talk for the students. I believe the helicopter was due at the school at 2 pm.

almost right,he is a lietenant in the navy,my son goes to tapton and was speaking to the pilot, sorry if i seem pendantic
yeah apparently 4 kids set fire to one of the cars and fire + petrol = big black mushroom cloud and very angry fire. I live at the house directly behind the garage and the fire was going crazy, it took a while to put it out and one guy said he thought they lost control of it at one point. I spoke to the man later in the evening and although he said it could have been worse (he had an antique BMW in the next garage) he was pretty upset. Some of the building was made from wood so that's destroyed. And 2 cars were competely burnt out, whilst others looked damaged from the heat.
