I have been on the atkins diet for 6 months, and although I intially lost a good amount of weight, I now seem to be in limbo. Nothing has change, I am following the same diet, and exercising 2x weekly. But weight is neither going up or down. I need to lose a little more weight before a forth comming wedding in August 09. Anyone had similar experience, and any advice much appreciated

lol you like food that much youve even named yourself lamb chop. Anyway your probaly already doing this but just in case you dont know, you need to stick to cardio exercisers rather then weight liftin. And try and stop all sugery foods, this will also help your mental strength.

I agree. I personally would also bin Atkins as I just can't see how it is any good for long term healh. But that's up to you of course.
THe only way to loose weight (or loose fat which surely is the overall goal) is to use more in energy than you put in. So to kick stat you'll need to increase your exercise or reduce your calorie intake. As Quicken says, building muscle will actually increase your base metabolic rate, meaning you burn more calories while doing nothing, so will help weight loss as well as maintaining that loss.

Try exercising 3 or 4 times a week if you can.

I think that going back to the 2 week induction should kick start it. Introduce the normal foods again afterwards.
I lost a good deal of weight on atkins a while ago and plan on doing so again in a few weeks.
Good luck.

You dont actually finish the atkins diet as if you follow it properly you change the way you eat so you do eat all the crap you were eating before.
Dont look at the weight youve lost, as when you excersie you are building muscle which weighs more. Check the loss of inches.

This diet is only for a rapid instant change straight awaywithin the first 6 weeks, its not recommended past the 4-6months usage. It will give u bad breath and also mess your bowels up,my inlaw did it for 6 months, yeah the weight is great losing it but she did it 6yrs ago last 2 stone and now suffers with constant loose stools which the doctor said she will never change that. so id personally goto see a dietrictian or a personal trainner.
good luck

Would it not make more sence to purchase some new stools? BnQ have many on the cheap, as well as tables.
Did the stools become loose as a result of the weight, when your friend sat on them?

So youve read the book then and know all about it????
The later stages are about changing your diet for life. Its not about a quick fix. Most body builders have a similar diet to the atkins and they dont have too many problems.

I eat a fair amount of take aways but when i feel the weight coming on i start eating boiled rice with a curry and salad it helps me lose it.
i wouldn't bother with the atkins diet it can't be good for you.

Why cant it be good for you?
You obviouly dont know what foods should be eaten.
Its not all fried foods like most people think that was down to the press giving wrong info.

Aye but regardless of whether the diet is full of fried foods or not the Atkins diet is still a higher fat content diet that initially cuts out quite a few essentials. If you want to eat healthily you should eat a wide variety of foods within a low carb diet that stay away from fats. I would suggest a low Glycemic index diet instead which doesn't cut out essentials such as wholemeal breads, beans or fruits.

this books a good one...

a well balanced healthy diet and exercise is the best way to go, Try to stick to 1500 calories a day (1750 for men) and work out 4-5 times a week. Atkins is a nightmare, I know as I tried it.
