please accept my apologies if this post is in the wrong place ( am sure our ever watchful mod's will move it if it is )
i have just been looking in the interest groups on sf to see if there is such a beast for us hardy souls that enjoy camping and caravanning etc but there dosen't appear to be one.
i was looking for ideas regarding which sites locally and nationally other user's could recommend or duff one's to steer newbies away from , as well as all the usual help and advice such groups offer.
my wife and i have recently taken up camping as a way to get away from it all for a few days without breaking the bank.
how do you go about creating a group and whats involved in running one ?

I'm very new to camping, I was convinced it was a good idea by my friends, so agreed to go and try it.
I would also like a camping section on SF so I can let all the other would-be campers know about our experience (all good).

we are regular campers and usually go to cornwall. once went to the lakes but found it boring. best advice AVOID GREAT YARMOUTH AT ALL COSTS. went once, absolute nightmare.

A camping group was suggested ages ago, and yes it is needed on the Forum, there is alot of interest in this area and it doesnt seem to have progressed at all.

Yes, I have been campaigning for a camping group for a while now. Last I heard, the forum was not interested in setting one up. I do hope that was just rumour. Anyhow, I mirror everything already said. There is sufficient interest on the forum to warrant the development of a group for camping and caravaning.
I hope the powers that be will take note of this interest.

I'd love to see a camping group on here. It would be a good place to read reviews of different campsites to visit, walks to do and places of interest in and around each site.

Yes, I would like to go camping but no one to go with currently. Shall we make up a group?

Well thats just silly, we go camping loads and know plenty of others that do, if we cant have a group we ought to start a mega thread recommending places tips etc etc. They will soon get an idea of interest then!

A camping group sounds a great idea. We have 2 small children and are looking to start camping again with them next year, so would love suggestions of where to go in Derbyshire.

How about sticking camping section in with walking group? I know I was against this initially, but if we are to ever get a group on the go then that is the mostly likely of places to place it.

You would have to approve that with the Walking Group GL's as it is beyond the remit of the group.
Please note that as with all other group requests, we haven't said no to them. Unfortunately adding a group isn't a simple procedure on the software we are currently running. There are a lot of areas in development so bear with us while we test and progress them.
