It's coming up to my mum's 50th (lol, she'd kill me for saying that) and I don't know what to get her but I was thinking a hot air balloon ride might be quite nice.

Has anyone been on any in sheffield or york?

Any ideas for other gifts instead??

Have a look at memorisethis.com I used them a couple of years back and they were a it cheaper than similar companies - they definately use York as one of their locations.

There is a hot air balloon that takes off from Endcliffe Park most sundays throughout the summer. Its the same one for quite a few years now. Usually goes up about 6pm.

Attracts a crowd usually too. not sure if its open to the public but could be worth checking out.

Have a look at www.buyagift.co.uk/newdawn. Enter code 020274 to get a £5 discount on your purchase on the payment screen.

We have developed products with BuyaGift and can highly recommend their products.

Regards

Mike

As said, the patchwork balloon leaving from Endcliffe Park on a Sunday is the operated by the Dragon Balloon company. The basket takes 12 people and the flight left around 7:30 last week. 6:30 meet - breifing, setup and an hour flight before champagne and ride back to the park, getting back in the Land Rover around 10:30pm.

My wife took a flight on Sunday and thought it was brilliant. This was a b'day pressie booked last September and our 3rd attempt to fly - it's very weather dependant!

They flew out over Whirlow and landed near Froggat - but the 'test' balloon launched 30 minutes earlier disappeared over City Road direction!

Quite expensive, payment needed up front but definately an experience worth having, judging from the feedback.

thanks to all for your help. I've checked out a few, couldn't find anything on memorisethis.com, they must have stopped doing them.

Still haven't booked it....I'm so uncommited!

Thanks
