HI
Has anyone got any advice for a 22 year old manager that wants to join the police ?
I am having trouble finding anything for him, anyone on the 'inside' got any ideas ?
Thanks

They have actually finished recruiting until next year.
Get lots of relevant work experience and make sure you are very fit.

Goodness me, "make sure you are fit" what sort of comment is that?
Next thing you'll be saying is "make sure you got a nice bum"

A friend of my son tried to get in SY police, Derbyshire police and Nottinghamshire police, but with no look, he eventually got in the Met and hoped to transfer back up here at a later point, but he's settled in down there now.

My brother had the same problem about 12 years ago.
He finished up joining the Mets coz they always seem to be screaming out for officers.Eventually,(about 3 years later) he got a transfer to Sheff.

I looked the other night and they are not recruiting anywhere at the mo...at least not anywhere round here...
I applied a few yrs ago - got thru to fitness test and then rescinded my application as I got a promotion where I worked already and the offer was too good to turn down..

It can take quite a while, but have a look on their website and start the application process, double check the form (or triple) it's your first impression.
I know a guy who joined 3 years ago and he's a Sergeant now and starts an attachment with CID in a few weeks.

It's extremely hard I beleive. As suggested best bet (if applying locally fails) is go for the met and try and transfer. And make sure you can run and beat
