Owing to a misprint in The Star the last one I went to turned out to be a bear festival and I ended up getting attacked by a grizzly. I won't make that mistake again.

If you fancy travelling further afield to CAMRA beer festivals, check out listings at www.camra.org.uk. Especially of note is the Great British Beer Festival in London and Peterborough Beer Festival, both in August. See www.eastmidlandstrains.co.uk for details of direct trains to both destinations from Sheffield.

from Friday the 28th to Sunday the 30th of August, The Nook Pub in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire will be holding its 6th Annual Beer Festival. As usual there will be 40+ Real Ales, Ciders and Fruit Wines accompanied by live music. This year however, our much-awaited micro-brewery will be showcasing its first of many beers. I have attatched a flyer if you or your members are interested, it should prove to be a blast, so don't miss out!

It would be great to see you there,

The Nook, Holmfirth

A good place to find out about beer festivals both near and far is the "RURADS" newsletter, which is also a quirky read and is published monthly on the link below. It also gives some good ideas for pub walks in the Derbyshire and East Midlands area.

I've never seen the point in beer festivals seeing as a walk around 4 or 5 pubs near Shalesmoor will provide you with about 40 different beers at a lot less cost.
