Hi all, im moving to Sheffield next year. We will be working in the S8 area. I am looking for a nice 4ish bed house; absolute max budget is 500k however we would like to spend closer to 400. I looked at S10 however you do not seem to be getting much for your money there.

Any suggestions on where we should be looking?

Do you need to be in a good school catchment?

S7, S10, S11 & S17 have all good schools and hence higher prices, they are also nice places to live.

You should be able to get a nice 4/5 bed detatched for your budget at the moment, not sure what the market will do next year, thats a whole new thread!

There's a nice house for sale across from me just to give you a guide (S7)

Move further out of these areas and you will get more for your money.

Areas you could consider would include Dore, Beauchief, Millhouses, Ecclesall, whirlow and the like. For £400 - £500k you should be able to get a good 4+ bed detached house with a good sized garden in an excellent school catchment area (if this is of interest to you of course). For examples on the type of house you could get in each of these, see below:

S11 (Ecclesall): http://details.vebra.com/property/648/18196236
S17 (Dore): http://esrch.hlc-s.co.uk/database.as...ove&ref=DO9490
S7 (Millhouses): http://esrch.hlc-s.co.uk/database.as...ref=BA40011889
S8 (Beauchief): http://details.vebra.com/property/1025/16915572
S11 (whirlow): http://details.vebra.com/property/1025/17661369

You might also want to look at Bradway which may be a little further out of the city centre, but close enough to S8 for your work. Your money might go a little further here.

Good luck with your search.

It's not just the excellent schools, it's what you don't get in S10 that makes it a great place to live and well worth the money!

It's no way near as easy finding something in S10 in the £200,000-£240,000 price bracket, we know as we're running out of properties to look at.
