HD Resolution Question

Hi there i was wondering is 1366x768 anywhere near 1080i/p or is it more like 720p, i have my 360 connected via vga on my 1080p lcd, on hdmi i can get 1080p resolution so just wondered if via vga 1366x768 is anywhere near, only reason connected this way is for the optical out

720p, no where near 1080p i'm afraid.

The TV may report 1080p, but that's input resolution it will down-scale it to 1080i (720p HD)

1080p = 1920x1080 resolution.

Nope.
720p = 1280x720 = 0.92 megapixels
768p = 1366x768 = 1.05 megapixels
1080p = 1920x1080 = 2.07 megapixels

The only important number is the one at the end. As you can see, your resolution is much closer to 720p than 1080p.

You can use HDMI and optical on 360, but you need an audio breakout cable. You get one included in the Elite, but if you didn't buy an Elite you can probably find them on eBay. They look like this and connect to the main video out and provide stereo RCA/optical connections that work alongside HDMI for video.

thanks matey, ive just bought one of those adaptors as ill be getting my hdmi model tomorrow so will still have surround, i didnt even know these adaptors existed.
