Hi know it's a weird question but is it safe for children to take garlic capsules (2mg)? I have been told to take them before my holiday as they are good at repeling mozzies, is that true? If not can anyone recommend something, thanks alot.

Kids today! All the goats I know snuffle their own garlic straight from the ground.

Woof!

They can upset your stomach but it may be alright for a couple of days.

VITAMIN B1. As a life long provider of nourishment for the blighters I can absolutely promise (can't spell garuentee) that it works! Start taking them about a month before you go away.

Hi linslou,
I would just stick to regular mosquito repellant, spray/creams. There is no scientific evidence, that I have found that supports the claim garlic will deter mosquitos. It is a good antiseptic apparently! Enjoy your holiday.

I am not sure about the gralic, but eating garlic is safe for kids so I would have thought so. Check with your pharmacist though.
If you dont want to spray your kids with chemicals when you are away I am told that lemongrass works well as a repellent, but I havent tried it myself. I dont know what my secret is but I dont really ever get bitten even when I go away, so not sure what it si the mozzies dont like about me! (but I do like my garlic, so maybe thats it?)

ETA lemongrass essential oil, or a body spray, not eating it. I think body shop used to do a lemongrass spray actually, im sure my gran had some
