I'm thinking of going away for one night only, this Saturday. I don't want to drive too far but would like somewhere nice or maybe different, somewhere for a walk or just a relax. I have some cash but no ideas. Can anyone reveal any near(ish), unknown hidden gems?

The Castle Pub in Castleton and the one opposite it (can't remember the name) both do lovely food and gorgeous countryside. Takes me about 20 mins to get there.

I know it's odd but I was looking to go somewhere other than the Peaks. I'll check Hellaby Hall out.

What about Lincoln? About 1.5hrs drive, is that too far?
Its a nice place to spend some time. Fantastic cathedral, castle is well worth a visit and lots of bars and places to eat down by the canal basin.
Do you want countryside or a city?

Rother Valley park! hire a boat and go for a sail. Sure there's a hotel round there.

Hellaby is nice if you like Council estates and industrial park. The grounds aren't that big and the surrounding area is not nice.

Smallshaw looks lovely and it has been added to my growing list of favourites but unfortunately they need a minimum of 3 nights.

It's not a complaint abut the 3 nights, I couldn't be bothered to clean every day either.
