Hi i am currently doing a dog grooming home course and looking for dog owners/guardians who would be kind enough to let me practice on their friends and companions of the fury kind.
Even if there are any dog grooming salons who would be kind enough teach me hands-on training for a couple of days would be appreciated.

I feel very confident with dogs, having 3 of my own (also 3 cats and 2 rabbits) and love them all terribly. I am hoping for a future in Mobile Dog Grooming as I believe dogs are a member of the family need a little pampering too and it is less stress for the dog being in their known environment.

I currently work fulltime shift work so I can work it round my days off or hours I may have free in the morning or evening. I will charge a small fee to cover tools and travel etc.

I live in the S20 area and I am currently will only be working on the bathing and drying and brushing and will work eventually on the clipping etc once I work further into my Dog Grooming course.

Thanks, your help would be appreciated.

Carebear please make sure you take out insurance before doing any sort of grooming even if you are just bathing etc. Cliverton and also Pet Business Insurance do mobile groomer packages.

I was a mobile groomer for a number of years before opening my salon, there is definately a market for it as there are not many mobile groomers around but please cover yourself before doing any work paid or unpaid.

Good luck

you can practice on my Border Collie Tess. She is soft as a brush but be warned she may lick you to death! I used to send her to A & M salon who have been mentioned on SF before but they are booked up until August!! so there is certainly a market out there for dog grooming. I'm at S11 & work from home so most times suit. PM me.

If you want to try long haired cats I have one who is in desperate need of a bath and trim but I don't have tough enough arms!!! I can bring him to you or you could come to us in Maltby if you fancy it. There's def a market for that too as I can't find anywhere to get him done! x

You're welcome to have a go at Molly if you're up to it!

She's a flappy long haired German Shepherd who panics and flops flat on the floor when there's anything she's not used to- she'd be good practice

She doesn't normally go to a groomers at all- I think it would be an entirely new thing for her- as her baths normally consist of being chucked in the river.

Hay Medusa you have so made my day, German Shepherds are my favourite breed (although I love all dogs I kinda have a soft spot for them). I will charge a small fee just to help with my equipment and travel (not too much), Where are you located? I cant sent you a PM, your settings doesnt allow it for us to exchange personal details.

I'm in Hillsborough- the easiest way to contact me these days is by email. My email is via the 'Contact Community Manager' link in the Contact Us page. Unfortunately too many people just PMed me rather than using the report function or the Helpdesk.

you aer welcome to practice on missy moo my crested, allthough she is classed as a hairless she is groomed regularly, and does have some hair...lol. To be honest people always think this breed doesnt need alot of care but looking after thier skin is very important.

Hi Moonbird, Yes I would very much be interested. How shall I email you? Shall I email you via the "contact us" page? Cos I know I am unable to PM you

That would give me a heck of a challenge but I am up for it. With my zoo collection at home I think I can manage it lol

Let us know how to contact you and I'll let you know what days I have free, and if it suits you ok
