I am a mature student researching Variety Theatre and would like to interview anyone who saw or was involved in any way with Variety Theatre in Sheffield, Leeds or anywhere else for that matter. My email address is sbigbootb@gmail.com. I came across the thread re. the Empire and realised that there are still people who remember the great days of Variety and those wonderful theatres. Please get in touch.

I can remember as a child being taken to the Palace Theatre at Attercliffe, Sheffield - they had singers, jugglers, acrobats etc. We used to sit in the 'gods' very high up seats. I recently went to the Lyceum Theatre which has been renovated and this reminded me of the Palace Theatre, understand some very big musical hall names appeared at the Palace but sorry can't remember any. Other may know or perhaps you might find out in your research. The Palace I believe became the cinema known as the Pavilion
