Jim Buck   10 #1 Posted March 20, 2009 Does anyone remember the anarchist commune in Havelock Square (now Hollberry Gardens) and what happened to it?
 Share this content via...
snout   10 #2 Posted March 20, 2009 It was run by (if that's the right expression) by a guy called "Ticker" whose real name I think was something like David Long. He used to spend a lot of time in The Raven and The Broomhall Tavern. Dunno what happened to it or him, he's probably a property developer now
 Share this content via...
Alastair   12 #3 Posted March 20, 2009 I remember going to a party there back in the late 70s. It was a huge old house and the first floor had largely been taken out and there were stars painted on the ceiling. But was it on Havelock Sq./Holberry Gdns?  My own hazy recollection is that it was on one of the streets that backs onto Hanover Way, the ring road. Was it on Hanover Square? sirglyn   11 #4 Posted March 20, 2009 You might get more replies if you moved this to Sheffield History and Expats.I think it was at No.4 Havelock Square and I'm pretty sure Ticker's real name is Ian Wood.
 Share this content via...
VideoPro   10 #5 Posted March 20, 2009 Ticker once decided he was going to beat me up, after I accidentally spilled his pint in the Hannover pub. Later, he told me the fight was off as I "had never read a decent book in my life". Good times!
 Share this content via...
