Since the storms last night, my TV and Broadband have been playing up.

Literally every 2 or 3 minutes both my Cable TV goes blank and my internet loses connection, for a few seconds.

Its really irritating.

I lost my telephone service(cable) last night and it is still off. Rang Telewest and couldnt even get through to speak to anyone. They just have recorded messages blaming last night's storm. 21st century technology at its best...

I'm not surprised you couldn't get through.....

Anyways, we lost sky digital at 18.50 last night, just as I was getting ready to watch the good doctor do his thing.

I was not impressed

Luckily, it came back on at 7.02.

Nah - when Sky goes off, you get a message saying 'no signal is being received' and the programme banner (which also shows the time) displays constantly underneath.

For satellite, the rain and heavy cloud cover will sometimes cause problems for digital signals that used to just give grainy picture for the old analogue receivers. The signal is absorbed by rain / snow.

We lost broadband a few times last night - wasn't sure whether it was warter in the wires at The Towers (we've had numerous cabling problems over the years on dial up and BB) or whether the elecronics were gettng a wee bit frazzled.

What else could you do? No BB, no tele..?

There is always making a cup of tea, and completing the crossword - .

As a side note: Our NTL BB nor TV nor phone played up last night.

I'm sorry. That last line made no sense whatsoever to me.

No, I sat there occupying my hands with a rather taxing task (though I'm getting better), so I could relax after the Daleks had gone.
[Whilst listening to the girlf and lodger talking about skinny clebrities or some other such twaddle.]

Still find it slightly amazing that we are moving toward a single method of transmitting that is susceptible to signal loss during bad weather!

Is cable signal lost during bad weather, (ie I assume they take their feed from Sky for some channels), or is their Sky feed taken directly from a more resilient (or multiple) source?

We lost Sky1 ay 20:58 on Sunday, a few minutes before '24' was due on... never mind black storm clouds, the air went blue in our house for a few minutes....
