I'm at work today with not much to do because there aren't many customers about (most seem to be frozen to the pavement) and my laptop with all my work on is broken - so I have my old laptop and the whole of the internet for company.

When I first got internet access at home in 1997 it was dial-up (kids - ask you parents) and I could browse for hours. I was still on dial-up in 2003 but I've had broadband since then.

Anyway, my point is that for most of the time I've had internet access I've been happy to browse for hours on end, but now I can't think of anything to find out.

Have I exhausted the internet? How long did it take you?

There's your problem. Stop searching for enlightenment and go for the mindless: grammatically-challenged cats, the President-elect leaping tall buildings in Super Obama World, videos of Darwin Award nominees singeing and losing bits of themselves in new and interesting ways. Oh, how we laughed.

Try StumbleUpon.

How many of those hours were spent waiting for pages to download, and don’t even mention streaming video.

Ah the good old days.

It takes me hours to read the papers, the forum, my favoured reviews sites, the latest info in my field of work, my emails and then often to refer to something I've read or heard about. Sometimes it's the definitions of a word or a phrase.
Eugenics was a word I read which led to an evening of reading and knowledge, no matter how distasteful.

Can we change "read" to "looked at" and "bits of" to "nuddie ladies on the"?

If so, never.

As Dr Samuel Johnson famously said; "When a man is tired of the internet, he is tired of life."

Sounds like it's all over for you, Little Buzz - best ask a friend to put you out of your misery.

Or you could get an enemy to do it, you might have more success.

I have just finished work and use the intrenet to talk to my sister , neices and nephews in kenya, Its hot there and I am freezing as I have been walking since 10am this morning !
I love talking to them and we share alot of family stuff , if i had no intrenet being part of the family would be differcult for me, i would miss them growing up and even though i can't give them a hug, i know whats going on in their lives and visa versa.

Couple of hours, log on here for a bit, read the forums, then go on Orange and check my mail, look at a couple of other forums I'm on, check Yahoo Mail, check wrestlezone.com for wrestling spoilers, that's about it really.

Probably never. I find Wikipedia endlessly interesting. There's just so much I don't know (and want to learn), from culture to history to science!

I don't think I'll ever run out of things to read.

Even if you read all the pages of interest in a few hours, go back a few hours later and most will have changed or been updated.

That to me is fasinating about the Intenret.

I agree with you Karis. I know people say it's unreliable (and I won't argue that), but it is good. By clicking on words I generally find that I end up reading about something totally different to my original search.

I remember a few years ago when I first used a 'modern' computer and got dial up, and thinking this internet thing was pants, and googling 'I'm bored s***less' .. and being genuinely amazed that there was a site with the exact wording, to eliminate my said boredom
