Does anyone know weather its possible to update an xbox 360 without an xbox live/internet connection? friend of mine has an xbox and is trying to play a video file on his xbox 360 from a usb flash drive, but when he presses play it says he needs to download a media update in order for it to play and then tries connecting to xbox live, i know the dashboard update can be downloaded from xbox.com and burnt to disc to be installed, does that include the 'media update' ? if not does anyone know if this can be done? and if so where it can be downloaded ?

I personally hate the new Dashboard. too confusing, much preferred the old one, and there was nowt wrong with it, and I'm a firm believer in the old adage "If it in't knacked, don't mend it" well you know what I mean
Another question if you could help. I have some old xbox games and when I insert them it says it needs upgrading, do I need xbox live for that and is that something I have to pay for. Thankyou.
