I've had a really annoying night, spoilt for several people also by a stupid drunk.
He'd had so much, he'd already fallen over once in our little local, and then crashed headlong into a table of drinkers, pinning a man in his 60s to his seat with a table stuck on him. It took 3 people to prise the drunk off, and an ambulance was called for the man, who had a suspected heart attack.
How the hell do people enjoy letting themselves get so ridiculously out of control like this?!
I only drink a little sociably, and tonight I was totally sober as I was driving. It makes me more determined not to drink when I see how it turns people...

I tend to stay in because I just generally hate people. Drunk people are even worse though.

I stayed in for the second year running now for this very reason. It seems to be getting worse and worse... why do people think it's fun to be past the point of self-control?

I stayed in for the third year in a row more to do with having 2 kids to look after than anything else but I must admit I dont miss being surrounded my drunks dancing like idiots and the sheer amount of people all at the bar at the same time.

Due to social drinkers with no will power who suddenly think they can drink for 12 hours without any ill effect.

I've always stuck to the quieter pubs since a couple of years ago, it was only 7pm, the pub was full, we were sat around one half of a table with our first pints and some idiot with no chance of seeing the night through till 12 crashed into the table sending about 15 people's drinks flying.
Problem being that left us soaked head to toe in beer and unlikely to be let in anywhere else due to OUR then looking like idiotic fall-down-drunks....
Drink doesn't turn everybody like that, but unfortunately NYE brings out the one-pot-screamers who decide that their low tolerance to alcohol means that whisky chasers are a great idea. No idea how to pace themselves, and no idea the next day of whether they had a good night.

I stayed in too, 2nd year in a row. I'm not a big NYE fan (or drinker) so i get a bit scared when i'm out at NY to be honest ! People DO actually go nuts !
I enjoyed a couple of films, some Baileys and some telly, the only thing that would have perfected my night would have been having someone to smooch at midnight. Hey ho, maybe next year.

Exactly you see allsorts of crazy things happening like part time drinkers throwing up all over the place cause they cant handle it,packed pubs where people refuse to move away from the bar when they have been served and one of my big pet hates people ordering coffee at the bar when its 5 to 11 and there are loads of people waiting!

my pet hate is people sitting at the bar in a busy pub.
its like reading a paper on the counter in a papershop.
if there are customers trying to be served then there shouldnt be stools along the bar.

thats where the regulars sit all year round ,those who keep their local running ,is the once a year brigade who go out on new years eve that cause the problems.
