I agree, it was deserved. I do think that Ferguson made a mistake not selling him for a world record fee last summer because I don't think that he will play as well in a Man Ud shirt again.

I don't think he will have another season like that but I think Man Utd need to keep hold of players like him. He's only 23, he's got plenty more to come yet I think.

EDIT: I just checked wikipedia to make sure I'd got his age right and whilst there found out that he was named after Ronald Regan!

Yeah, I think he deserved it for his performances last season. But having watched Messi a few times this season I think it'll be his name on the trophy next year.

He was undoubtedly the best player I saw last season.

He'll never manage that scoring feat again, and I think that's what won him the award. Will be interesting to see how he fares in La Liga when he inevitably signs for a club there.

Fully deserved IMO.

He may be a whinger, go down easy, dive. But what a player.

Good player, **** attitude. But you could say that about most players at ManYoo - we know they're good players - why do they have to dive, cheat and complain all the time?

Can't help but admire his footballing skills, and yes, probably deserved, but it doesn't stop him being a <insert random profanity>.

I saw him play for Portugal against Brazil at the Emirates, and he was superb (along with Quaresma and Miquel)

My only gripe (cliche that it is) is he goes missing in big competetive games. People cite the spectacular header against Roma last season, but in truth his dominance was against lesser sides. He also seems to take umbrage at any tackle made his way, legal or not, which suggests a talent bordering on arrogance.

He is no Chris Waddle (though his hair is getting there)

You've obviously never seen Messi play.

Messi is fantastic, but he too can be shut out of games.

I would love to see him in the Prem, but he might well find it harder than in Spain - I am not sure he could take the punishment Ronaldo does physically.

Agreed.

Similarly, I'm not sure how Ronaldo would fare in La Liga. I feel Messi is better suited to the game there.
