It only seems that way because we're much quicker at dealing with it in the day, generally it will take seconds for a report to come in if a spammer posts at a popular time. We get spam posts at all hours though.

Yes, some of the less obvious ones anyway, to determine that they are spam and should be deleted.

Not sure if it's futile or not. Like email spammers, some people must bite or I wouldn't have thought they'd bite.

A well run spamming operation needs such a minute proportion of those who see it's spam to respond that it does make economic sense and sadly isn't futile.

Believe it or not enough people really are stupid enough to fall for spam to make it profitable, what I find hard to understand is how such idiotic people have any money left to be scammed out of.
