They are just the same as the slim PS2, except with the power supply built in..

Prices were expected to be around the £75 mark here in the uk as they are only $99 in the US, if they are sold at £95 here, that just shows how we are being further ripped off in the console and gaming market, we always pay over the odds.

But I think its a bad move on sony's side, and if they had just included full PS2 support in the PS3, they'd sell more PS3's and make more profit, sony have really lost my support in all this since the launch of the PS3 with "limited PS2 compatability" and now none at all.... I mean come on, they all have PSOne backwards compatability, and support, and not PS2? why? cause the PS2 is still in market... what a rip. and you only have to look at how they have cut the features down to reduce the price of the PS3 to see thier mistake..

the original PS2 had around 15 versions of the console, and they are already on version 3 or 4 of the slimline one.... yet people slate the 360 just because its on version 4... PS3 is on version 3 or 4 already also.

I think ist becuase the PS2 & s3 sales combined are crushing x-box sales, if you can get a PS2 for about £75 why worry about backward compatability on the PS3 ..

Its worth noting that although there are many more X-Box 360's out there in total, The PS3 sales have been greater for the time since launch than the 360's, far from being a mistake i think its a great idea to make the PS3 cheaper, and sell PS2's (for which new games are still been made).. and are cheaper, have a great budget range, and a very very healthy second hand market

Combined PS2/PS3 sales far outsell the X-box 360.. so maybe a great move on Sonys part Though with the X-box becoming the ''budget'' next gen time will tell i guess

I half considered buying one a few years back for the Buzz quiz games, till I found out Scene It was being made, Xbox 360 exclusive, I bought the latest version last week, top game.

It's because of the credit crunch in the USA. Sales of PS2 games are still outselling by a major margin over the PS3.

Until the sales of PS3 games take over the PS2 then they will still make games. if you think about it, there is more retail money in the games than the consoles.

sales figures for video games in November:

PS3: 197,000 units
Nintendo Wii: 476,000 units
Xbox 360: 511,000 units
PS2: 664,000 units

looks like the PS2 is outselling the Big Brother by 3:1

PS2 and PS3 sales still shadow 360's sales, 360 was out first and will do well.. for a while, from the same period since launch PS3 has sold more units in the same time freme than 360 has.

and wii absolutely crushes both !! Microsoft are selling less units than Sony (PS2&PS3 combined) and Nintendo !! maybe its Microsoft that should be concerned !!

Microsoft, GOOD at PC's?, they don't actually make PC's, well, they do but its 3rd party contractor, and the software is MS, although they don't do well at the software either.

The 360, is the only decent thing to come from MS
